Mac + Lee's Holiday Tradition
At Mac + Lee, we have a tradition of donating to a charity on behalf of our clients – in lieu of gifts. This year, we have decided to devote our holiday gift budget to a Boston charity called The Women's Lunch Place.
They are a daytime shelter for homeless women and their children, located in the Back Bay. Demand is way up for hot meals and shelter right now and the Women's Lunch Place is struggling to keep up.
Aside from donating financially to the Women's Lunch Place, we are donating 30 hours of outreach to other Boston-area companies, in the hopes that we can convince others to help too.
Giving Back
Giving back is a critical piece of what Mac + Lee considers to be our corporate responsibility. We believe in offering our employees the flexibility to "make it count" in their communities by volunteering time, raising money and providing support to causes they believe in.
Loie Williams
For the past six years, Loie has ridden more than 100 miles over two days in the PanMass challenge. She has raised nearly $90,000 since starting in 2005. Herself a cancer survivor, Loie is passionate about finding a cure.
"Six years ago, after I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, my surgeon laid out my life in chunks of time. If I lived through the first two years after my surgery and chemo, there was a pretty good chance I would survive. If I lived through the first five years, there was a great chance I would survive. It's been six years now, and I am still here. I pedal for the boy who stands by the side of the road holding a sign that says, "I am 12 because of you." These supporters propel me forward with their cheers, their thanks, and their hopeful looks. I pedal harder knowing some of them may have little time. I pedal for your friends and family, whose names I carry with me."
A brilliant business strategist and an amazing example of "making it count", Loie is currently pursuing a masters degree in organizational management at Harvard University.

Nancy Frary
Nancy contributes her painted furniture to “Painting for a Purpose.” PFP brings people together to create hand painted “whimsical” furniture. They host an annual auction to sell the furniture and use the proceeds to fund youth led service learning grants for students in the Portland, ME Public Schools.
“Painting gives me a great sense of accomplishment. I am proud to contribute to this organization because I believe the support they provide gives each student a great sense of accomplishment as well.”
